I Don’t Understand Doctors
A patient stands up from the bench
Talks to a nurse and waits to see the doctor
Because doctors must live.
“Remove your clothes
The doctor will drain a little blood for a test
To see if there is blood in your blood”.
He gives you a prescription,
To get medicines at Downtown Pharmacy
Because the chemist must live.
You take home your medicine
“And please take it.”
For you must live.
I don’t understand doctors
They treat you for insomnia
And you die of pneumonia
Don’t they make us miserable?
Some doctors are OK
Whatever they treat you of you heal
But the last time I visited one, he said
“Don’t go to work, rest.”
I obeyed and stayed home
Then he gave me a bill
That made me more ill.
When you are ill
You need a pill
But a doctor gives you a bill
I don’t understand doctors anymore.
When my mother, I love so much, was ill
Some doctors thought she had dementia
Others gave her pills for schizophrenia
Yet she died of pneumonia.
Now I suffer from insomnia.
I don’t understand doctors anymore.
